Stubbornness is a sign of change

A person achieves his one goal and further makes another target. I will mention about only Indian stubborn persons because I do not have much information about others. Let us talk about a person, moving on a path, full of obstacles. A person achieves his/her goal because of his determination and we can consider that determination is synonym of stubbornness. My country India is one of the oldest civilization, it has seen many intrusions and fight against that. People in India are emotional for their belongings whether it is concerned about their family, language, region or nation etc. This belongingness seeks stubbornness to keep it with them.

2000 years back, a Brahmin, Chanakya was born. He was a bigot to his idiosyncratic nature. History evidenced his patriotism. This Indian Machiavelli went against the whole kingdom and king’s working style. At that time Dhananand was king, he was very selfish. He was very indisposed to help people in his regime. When Alexander-The-Great attacked India during his expedition to win the world, Chankaya went to every state’s king to block off the march of Alexander, instead of providing help Chanakya was forced by Dhananand, was chided by courtiers for his feeling of nationalism. But still Chankaya continued awakening the feeling of nationalism in common person. He was a stubborn person, he was putting consistent efforts to demolish the corrupt regime. He pulled down corrupt governance by his stubborn nature. Stubborn nature showed determination to change the system. History depicts many examples that consistent determination is true sign of change. Avatar incarnated to mold system down by their stubborn nature.

In 16th century, there was a great Rajput Raja, Maharana Pratap, he was also one of the biggest stubborn king. Although he was born in raja family, was not much indulged in epicurean life. Mughal Emperor, Akbar was conquering whole India bit by bit. He sent peaceful invitation to come under his dominion otherwise face attack. Many accepted it in first time, many later on but Maharana Pratap never accepted it. Akabar tried to curb Pratap but didn’t succeed completely. Though Akbar was foe of Pratap, he saluted his stubbornness to remain independent. Pratap was forced to leave chittodgarh because Akbar had abducted it. Maharana hid himself with his followers in Aravali hills. Akbar sent three expeditions to find him, capture and make him seek mercy before Emperor. But it never happened, Maharana never accepted defeat and later on he won over Akbar and reclaimed Chittorgarh. So again Stubbornness showed another change in history. People get inspiration from fighters because of their stubborn nature.

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, is ideal for Dalit people. Hindu society is divided among many casts. This castism created discrimination and it still continues. Ved in Hindu society say that Brahmin is God’s son and other castes have to follow it. Due to this orthodox, people blindly follow Brahmins and has been facing discrimination. This orthodox was deep rooted in Hindu society and it was brought down by Ambedkar efforts. In USA, same discrimination was seen between black and white people. A leader, Martin Luther King Jr enfranchised black people and reduced discrimination. In childhood Ambedkar faced discrimination. These occurrences were creating a stubborn nature in him. He found it difficult to change but not impossible. He generated pool of knowledge in him by reading and studying about history, philosophies, sociology, religions, castism, race etc. and he evidenced before Government of India that how behavior of Hindu society towards Dalit people is inhuman. Ambedkar went against this absurdity. Though he felt extreme opposition, he achieved his goal. He created reservation for Dalit to uplift their life to render equal status with other castes. This achievement by Ambedkar was happiest moment of his life. This biggest ever giving to Dalit Society has changed the life of Dalits. This has also been one of the biggest changes in a society which was the aftermath of stubbornness or consistent determination.

History exemplified the value of stubbornness by many changes, rendered by stubborn leaders. Nowadays people mention that current time is lacking nationalism or feeling of patriotism. But I feel there is no lacking. People are still patriots. Everyone must have read about Satyendra Dubey, a whisle blower. Satyendra Dubey’s introduction does not need to be mentioned. The one thing should be mentioned that he was stubborn towards his honesty. He noticed convoluted system and tried to make aware about it for changing but his expedition was halted by his murder. No, sorry I should not use “halt” word because his message has reached to populace and this exposed a tawdry system. Now you would argue that where is change? I would mention. Aftermath of this happening made aware to common people about debauched system.

Above all examples show stubbornness and their consequences are in positive sense. People migrate from one place to other in search of livelihoods. Resources availability enslaves migration. Extreme migration can create warfare for exploitation of resources. A politician, Raj Thackrey, sabotaged migrants to flinch back from Mumbai. Some people frightened and drew back, some sustained and are keeping continue. Huge migration is not good sign and then somewhere a single stubbornness intrudes in form of dictator and halts migration. This may balance populace and resources availability. It is also a good CHANGE for society.

Few years back I was seeking change in my life too and this frustration diverted my path to an institute where changes are not rare, it is the basic need of residents of it. This environment shaped me and then I began to realize changes. People told me changes come when you are determined to take them. I saw many people in IIT they are highly determined and very stubborn to ideology. Now world is watching IITians, achieving their targets, making good changes in society, making people inspired. People from IIT may differ in qualities but one thing is common. They are fighter and full of determination. I also belong to this society and something forces me to move one more step and further one more. This added a long journey, had started from a unknown corner. I have not believed it earlier but now I feel this. This is because of my alma mater which changes my life.

After IIT, I joined HPCL, here successful people are considered those who show flattery to their seniors. I am a stubborn person, accept fully evidenced facts but highly reluctant to accept debauched things which sometimes rendered me isolation, rebukes, criticism but I never bog down. I am facing lot of heat of friction but my force is still more than opposing one.

Though stubbornness is not characterized as good sign for having success, it has exemplified changes whenever system needed.
